I was born in Hong-Kong and raised in Singapore, having a German Passport. During school, school holidays, and after graduation in May 2007 from the German European School Singapore, I took part in several internships. These experiences took place in hotels and other service oriented businesses where I experienced and learned a lot about the different aspects of the hotel and hospitality industries.
In Singapore, the social life and events, such as birthdays or weddings, mostly take place in various hotels. In a very early stage of my life, I was exposed to the hospitality industry and from then on I was interested and excited to know more about career opportunities.
Over the years, I was given the opportunity to experience various internships and trainings, which included working at a straight forwarding company having cross-training in different departments. I also gained insight through activities such as learning from DaimlerChrysler in the Public Relations office, attending a social work-shop in Kerala, South India, building a Kindergarten for 500 children and gaining essential work experiences in the Fullerton Hotel in Singapore. These opportunities gave me the chance to grow up in a very multi-cultural way.
After graduating, I moved for the very first time to Germany to seek some work experience in the hospitality industry. I joined the Kempinski Group in 2007 and worked for one year in the company gaining new skills and making great friends. This experience helped me to decide to further enhance my knowledge by studying hospitality management at LRG-UAS.
I began my studies in 2008 joining the Bachelor program in Glion Institute of Higher Education. During my third semester, I was given the opportunity to join Glion’s sister school, the LRG-UAS program and enter the Bsc in International Hospitality Management in 2009. I was particularly excited to be part of the first class of this new university.
In the past year, I have realized that this cross-over to the LRG track was the right choice for me – everyday brings along new challenges and exciting opportunities. During my internships, I worked for the Park Hyatt Hotel in Zurich in the F&B department as well as in the Grand Hyatt Hotel Singapore in the Sales & Marketing department. I feel like it was the right decision to join the LRG program as the university challenges my knowledge, provides me with a great deal of real-life example and helps me to improve my academic skills on a daily basis.
